Delivery Mode and Commitment

The Managers' Toolbox was originally designed as an Nationally Recognised Advanced Diploma in Management, but the commitment required, duration of the course, essential pre-reading and demands of the required assessments, were found to be too onerous for many participants to complete in accelerated mode.

Further, the background of many partcipants, especially in corporate situations, ranged from former tradespersons to masters degree qualified people, which further complicated delivery and defeated the Toolbox's team-building objective.

The course is now delivered in accelerated mode, requiring only eight single day workshops, broadly two weeks apart, enabling the whole course to be completed in just over three months, with minimal work required outside the workshops, unless agreed with corporate clients' management to achieve ‘in-house’ objectives.

The learning resources are packaged in self-contained, custom designed resource folders including readings, which encompass the whole course. These resources focus on applying the key concepts and issues to real world situations, including each learner's own workplace.

Participants work both individually and in small groups and deliver a series of individual and group presentations throughout the course. They also undertake a workplace management project related to their own workplace, which helps them develop a holistic appreciation of management as an integrating function.

The course can be structured for delivery ‘in-house’ and tailored to specific organisational or industry needs, including the not-for-profit sector. Corporate client's managers can have input to the scope of this project.

Graduates of the course will receive a framed Certificate of Achievement from The Management Development Institute, which can be co-badged with the client organisation. This is not a nationally recognised qualification.
